Windows 10: In file explorer, in Win 11 Pro, my navigation panel always expands, no matter what . . .

In file explorer, in Win 11 Pro, my navigation panel always expands when I click on any folder, even though I have done everything I can to stop it from happening. I am running Version 24H2 Build 26100.2894. I have already unchecked the box in folder options, plus done some changes to the registry, to no avail.

How to expand folder in Quick Access in the Navigation Panel in File Explorer?

I can't expand files pinned to 'Quick access'.

In the navigation panel of file explorer I am struggling to find a way to make all 'Quick Access' folders expandable on my new computer with Windows 11. I am able to expand the quick access pinned files on my windows 10 computer by clicking expand or by dragging files to the navigation panel which automatically expands the folder over which I'm hovering with the dragged file.

It is one of those things that make the windows experience frustrating as it is making the navigation panel less functional and practical. A total deal/breaker for me like many things in windows 11.

Help or clarification of the issue would be much appreciated

 

Auto-expanding in File Explorer

Windows 11 Pro x64 (v10.0.22621.755).

My File Explorer for some odd reason has started opening every folder as
soon as I click on one of my drives. Used to be that when I did that (clicked on the drive name, not the + sign next to it), it
would show the folder list in the right-hand panel, but not under the drive unless I double-clicked on it.
I tried turning the "Expand to open folder" in the options on and off to no
avail. I have "Double click to open an item" set to on, single-click off.
I have compared my settings to the ones I have on my laptop (Win10Pro x64)
and they are the same, but the laptop does it the right way. Also, the laptop shows a ">" next to the drive, and my desktop shows a "+".
I've tried a number of suggestions, including here, all to no avail:

Any other suggestions would be appreciated. Worst case scenario, I could do a Repair Install of Win11, but I'd rather not, IYKWIM.

I don't have Quick Access... it's removed on my computer. Maybe if you pin the Volume (E shortcut to Quick Access..... it will work on the left side. I don't know. Mine looks like this...

You may have to wait for someone that "uses" Quick Access and/or all those weird folders on the left side. I do all my navigating on the right side. First thing I do when I install Win 10 or 11... is remove all the weird folders in the Navigation Pane (left side). I don't like them. I don't see the need for them... etc. My Win 11 looks exactly the same... except for the ribbon bar...
