In Photos, the two-direction cropping arrow symbol blinks in and out too rapidly and is...

When I try to hold the mouse pointer exactly over the the first edge to be cropped of a photo in Photos, the two-direction cropping arrow is very hard to establish long enough to do the first crop because it blinks in and out of existence too quickly, even if I try hard and long to position the pointer exactly right over the first edge.

Once I do with difficulty get the first cropping arrow to persist and can successfully crop one edge, the cropping arrows for the other three edges do appear long enough to establish easy cropping for the other sides.

I think something needs an adjustment in Photos or in Windows 10 64-bit. Why is cropping the first side so difficult, whereas cropping the other three sides is easily done? Or is there a 'trick' or workaround that I have not figured out yet?

    :)

  2. Photos direction arrows not showing

    Hi Rafg,

We appreciate you for being a part of Windows 10.

Before proceeding, we need more information to help you better.

    • Since when you are facing this issue with Photos app?

    • How many photos are present in the subfolder from where you are trying to open Photos through Photos app? (Inside the My pictures sub folder)
Please be informed that if you have only one photo in the subfolder from where you are trying to open the photos in File explorer, you will not see the direction arrows in the Photos app to view the next picture in the Photos app.

If you have multiple pictures in the subfolder from where you are trying to open the photos in File explorer, then follow the below steps and check if you are able to view the right and left directions in the Photos app to view the pictures.

    Step 1:

I suggest you to run the Windows app troubleshooter and check if you are able to fix the issue with Photos app.

Run the troubleshooter for Windows apps

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-10/run-the-troubleshooter-for-windows-apps

If the issue still persists, follow the below step.

    Step 2:

You may try to uninstall the apps which came inbuilt with Windows 10 using Windows PowerShell and reinstall using Windows store. Follow the below steps to uninstall and reinstall the Photos app.

    • Open the Start menu, type
      Windows PowerShell
      in the search bar.

    • Right click on the Windows PowerShell and select
      Run as administrator.

    • Enter the below command to reinstall the Photos app.

      get-appxpackage *Microsoft.Windows.Photos* | remove-appxpackage
Note: After performing the above steps, install the Photos app form the Windows store.

You may try to open the photos app and check if the issue persist.

I hope the above information helps. Kindly let us know if you need any further assistance with Windows. We are glad to assist you.

    Thank you.

    Crop Function Greyed out

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

Usually when you preview a picture that was captured from camera app, it should open in the photos app where you can edit/crop it. I would suggest you to try editing/cropping the photos in
    Photos app.
As you mentioned that issue occurred after the update, I would suggest follow the steps provided below and check if that helps:

Method 1: Please follow the steps provided in the article: Fix problems with apps
    from Microsoft Store
    .

Method 2: Reinstall the app using PowerShell.

    1. Open PowerShell and run it as admin. To open PowerShell, right click on the start button and then on Windows PowerShell (Admin).
    2. Then type: Get-AppxPackage Microsoft.WindowsCamera | Remove-AppxPackage.

    3. Reboot your computer.
    4. Open PowerShell again and then type: Reinstalling apps:
      Get-AppXPackage -allusers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}

    Regards,

Windows Photos app default aspect ratio when cropping

I want to crop some iPad photos to widescreen (for showing on my TV) within the Windows Photos app. It's a rather tedious process: Edit; Crop; Aspect ratio; Widescreen; Drag the two corners to the edge of the photo; select the area of the photo I wish
to save; Apply; Save; right arrow key; repeat for the next photo. Eliminating even one of these steps would be a help, so... Is it possible to set the Photos app default aspect ratio to Widescreen (the default is currently Custom)?
