In-Place update fails without error information at 39%

Computer seems to be working properly with Windows 10 Pro, but Windows Update won't run. Various attempts to repair the service all failed:

    • I tried chkdsk, - no error
    • I tried renaming the Software Distribution folders, process would not restart
    • I ran DISM.exe /Online/Cleanup-image /Restorehealth but got "Error 2": Error DISM DismHostLib: Failed to createdismhost.exe servicing process.

So I decided to do an in-place update / reinstall. I downloaded the latest image fromMicrosoft and started the process to reinstall windows, keeping my files andprograms. The process ran smoothlythrough downloading updates and starting the actual installation advising me thatthis will take some and the PC will restart several times. Shortly after I saw “39% complete” it crashedwith a simple message box “Windows 10 installation has failed”. No error number or other clue.

    What do I do now?

    :)

  3. HID Compliant Mouse Bad File and problem with I/O ERROR 39

    Hi Aldrian,

I realize the inconvenience caused to you with drivers on Device Manger, let me help you in resolving the issue.

I would like to inform that there are several causes of Code 39 errors:

    • A required device driver is missing.
    • A required binary file is corrupted.
    • There is a problem with the file I/O process.
    • A driver that is referencing an entry point in another binary file is unable to load.

I suggest you to uninstall and re-install the driver on Device Manager as mentioned in the below support article and check if it helps:

Error codes in Device Manager in Windows

    (Refer to: Code 39)

Also, try to search for the drivers from Manufacturer's website and install them in the compatibility mode.

You can install Windows 8/8.1 drivers in compatibility mode if there are no Windows 10 compatible drivers.

Follow the steps to install in Compatibility mode:

    • Download the updated driver from the manufacturer’s website.
    • Right click the driver installation file and select
Properties then tap or click the Compatibility tab.
    • Place a check in the Run this program in compatibility mode for: box.
    • Tap the drop down box and select a previous operating system, then tap or click
      OK.
    • Try installing the driver and check.
Hope it helps. Please perform the above methods and update the status of this issue, we will be happy to help you.

    Thank you.

In-Place update fails without error information at 39%

    KB4025339 Fails Install 0x80070564

    Thanks
I am trying Eagle 51's suggestions now. Windows Update troubleshooter found a bunch of errors and fixed all but one.The update is trying to download KB4025339 again. I'll see what happens. At step one troubleshooter finishes with one error unresolved "Potential Windows Update Database Error Detected-Not Fixed". Windows update stalled at 0%.

At step 2 same troubleshooter error. The KB finished a new download failed to install.
Did step 3 KB has downloaded but fails to install.

    If Eagle's suggestion doesn't work I'll try EdTittel's suggestion

Tried bothe Eagle & Ed 's suggestions - do not work. Anyone else?

I have noticed that the latest update for my nvidia drivers has failed to update. Wondering about that!
