Windows 10: In place upgrade does not have English UK

I want to do an In place upgrade for windows 11 but when I try to select the language English UK is not listed. All that is listed is English US and International listed.

Get Cortana to work in English (UK) for Windows 10

I upgraded to Windows 10, and Cortana doesn’t seem to be available based on the Start Menu:

but when I click the link, it takes me to this page:





which suggests it should be available in the UK, since I've checked

• my language settings are English (UK),
  
• I have the English (UK) language pack installed, and
  
• the speech settings are also set to English (UK).
  

I think this is everything, right?  It certainly ticks the boxes in the Microsoft help article.

Cortana does not work in english UK with an upgrade

What i am posting now is actually half question and half report.

I have two devices just upgraded to windows 10, both from Windows 8.1, both have language settings of English UK.

The differences are:

• One is a Surface Pro 3 (SP3) and one is custom build desktop (CB)
• The SP3 had Germany as region setting before the upgrade, and it was bought in singapore
• The CB was upgraded through windows update, and the SP3 was upgraded through download tool (64-bit) from

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

The CB have Cortana working right from the get go.. And have English accented Cortana working right from the start. I haven't changed any language or locale options on CB.. and after the upgrade.. i can use it right away.

The SP3 however..

To get Cortana to work, i have to change everything to English US (like how some in the community have suggested). English UK will brake Cortana right away. The settings page in Cortana will have inconsistent Font and semi-working slider button (the one
to turn Cortana on and off).

How to get it working normally with UK in SP3? Is it because of the differences in Locale and ISO that probably used in production of SP3? I do not want to change everything in CB to get the same Cortana experience across all my devices!

Hope this helps or act also as a bug report to windows 10.. It is a great OS.. only with a glaring bug.

 

US keyboard + UK English


You could leave only the English UK language, but then you would have to remember that some symbols on your keyboard are on a different place when typing (such as @ and " and others).
