I have looked over many other posts about this, all with the same error code, but with a different problem.

I have a computer thats a few years old, it has an ABIT kn8-sli motherboard, and its running off windows XP.

I was having problem with the hard drive before I gave up on it awhile back, and now I have come back and resolved that problem, but now when I get to the login screen and type in the password it says its in need of an update, then when it asks me if I want to update I click Yes, and then it says it won't work due to error 0x80004005.

The only operating system I have currently is windows 7. Do I need to go buy a new OS or is this recoverable?

 

Decompression error code -6 ; 0x80004005 ; disk cyclic redundancy

So, apparently my laptop can't extract files and install games while others can.

First, I tried to extract it with file manager. Then, at some files, it shows the error code 0x80004005.

Second, I tried to use 7zip and WinRAR but it shows disk cyclic redundancy error. I'm sure the files aren't corrupted or protected.

Even after extracted, when I tried to install it, it shows decompression error code -6 or unarc.dll returned an error code -6.
