Beginning today, teachers in the U.S. who are eligible to get Office from their school can sign up for Office 365 themselves using a school-provided email address at www.office.com/teachers. Students in the U.S. can check their eligibility at www.office.com/getoffice365.

Maybe more schools are using the open source office suites that why Microsoft no longer doing the free office for students and teachers. I remembering hearing on the news in the past that Microsoft gave students and teachers free office software mostly it was colleges.

Well, this one's a high school, so that may be the difference. She's been teaching for over 30 years so I'll ask her when she gets home; they can't use their cell phones at school. What's good for the student is good for the teacher.

When I looked at office.microsoft.com, only the perpetual version of Office 2016 was listed as being "Home and Student". Office 365 was listed merely as Home or Personal.

Office 2016 price vs Office 365 subscription

Hi there

It looks like that a Student and Teacher edition of Office 2016 will be available at around 90 GBP - 105 EUR while an Office 365 subscription will be around 60 GBP - 73 EUR for 1 year. Since the Student edition will work on 3 machines it seems to me the subscription model is bad value compared with Office 2016.

Now there might be a caveat -- not sure if OUTLOOK 2016 is included with Student and Teacher --we'll have to wait and see.

There *Might* also be an Upgrade price from Office 2010 / 2013 too.
