Windows 10: Inability to receive verification codes has locked me out of my computer

I need to enter my BitLocker recovery key. I went to log in to my Microsoft account to retrieve it but was required to enter a verification code. I did not receive the verification code, so I followed all of these instructions: Microsoft account security info & verification codes. Nothing helped, so I used an alternate account to reset my security info. This locked my account for 30 days and the only way to cancel the request is to enter a verification code! Prior to that I was unable to update ANYTHING on my account without a verification code. At this point, I am essentially locked

• Where exactly do you get the prompt/notification to verify the email address?
  
• How are you trying to verify the email?
  

However, you can try using other options to request the verification code i.e. requesting the code over a call or as a text to your phone number and see if that helps in resolving the issue.

Are verification codes Free ?

Are they ? After a code received, it doesn't seem that it deducts from mobile balance, perhaps it deducts after a month or so.

Google and Microsoft use 2 step verification codes but are the free ?

Hello Cole,

With this BitLocker issue and Mobile device delay, once you request a Verification Code, please be patient as texts are not always received immediately.

If you are still having further issue with the BitLocker recovery, you can always Factory Reset your computer and Re-enable BitLocker with a new pin.
