Windows 10: Inaccessible boot device - advanced restore options don't work

Dear community,


my Windows 10 doesn't start anymore, it ends in a blue screen with stop code INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE.

I think it happened when it got forced to restart for some updates but my charger was not connected and so it turned off with an empty battery. Since that it doesn't start anymore.

I tried all options in troubleshooting and advanced restore options.


The last guide I followed is this one:

SFC /scannow /offbootdir=D:\ /offwindir=D:\windows

--> Did run successfully


but when running DISM /image:\ /cleanup-image /restorehealth

--> I get Error 32 -

An error occurred closing a servicing component in the image.

Wait a few minutes and try running the command again.


This happens to all DISM cleanup-images I tried.

Looks like the registry is messed up.


Then I tried to fix the registry, following this:

--> my RegBack folder is empty.


Then I tried to disable Windows updates, following this:

--> I get the same errors as described in this thread.


I am lost!


Any idea what else I can do?

or just format and reinstall everything?

Inaccessible boot device

I'm not sure if this is helpful, but maybe you can have a try. Windows operating system backups a working registry for recovery purpose. You can perform registry backup restoring to fix the inaccessible boot device error. The pre-condition is that you can access to the Advanced startup opotions of your PC. You'll need to use the command prompt.
Also, steps are a little bit complicated. However, if you follow the guide strictly, no mistake should be made. You can Google how to restore from Registry Backup, or refer to this article for help. Inaccessible Boot Device Lenovo.

inaccessable boot device,

inaccessable boot device, downloading windows updates , after installed itb restated with this error, now its in a loop, can only hit f2 , that goes into main / advanced/monitor/boot/tool / don,t know what to do with that, cannot do anything else just
an endless loop originally 8.0 had updated to 8.1 then free update to windows 10,

It is an intermediate level link.
There are more advanced steps that can be ran once the partition structure is known.
There are steps for repair of the boot sector, operating system, etc.
Sometimes this bugcheck can be caused by windows updates.

A reset save files equivalent may be able to be performed.
Alternatively a clean install can be performed once important files are backed up.
