  1. Inaccessible Boot Device AFTER Standard NVM Express Controller Driver Update

So I got this new PC and do what I've done with every PC/Laptop I've ever used, which is just update Windows and update drivers. I tend to use a program called Driver Booster to update everything, but I've found this time, every time I do that it's causing the "Inaccessible Boot Device" blue screen on startup.I created some restore points and started minesweeping around driver updates to find which one is causing the problem, finding ultimately that it was the storage controller driver called "Standard NVM Express Controller" doing the startup problems, so I've simply left that one un-updated.

    :)

  2. Standard NVM Express Controller

Hi.. Hope all are doing great...

Issue, I am running Windows 10 Pro 2004. I have an XPG SX6000 Lite 256GB M.2 drive installed on a Vantec Adapter in a PCIe slot. Motherboard is an old P8H77-V i3770 CPU. When Windows loads from a shut down (Cold Boot) the Standard NVM Express
Controller Driver loads and the drive works great. But, when a restart (Soft Boot) is done the Standard NVM Express Driver fails to load and the drive does not show and is not listed...

What do you think Inaccessible Boot Device AFTER Standard NVM Express Controller Driver Update :)? Help would be amazing... Thanks

  3. Standard NVM Express Controller

    Hi.. Thanks Greg...

Let me answer these one at a time... Sata Controller is set to AHCI in the Bios. This issue has been there since I installed the M.2 NVMe, M.2 Sata SSD PCIe X4 Adapter. So there is no point in the Restore to go back to. I need this adapter as there
is no M.2 connections on the motherboard... old board.... Asus P8H77-V. A screen shoot of Disk Management would simple show you a shot of the drive being there after a cold start... like it is now.... All are showing healthy.. I have a C, F, G, D, H drive....
If I did a restart (Soft Boot) then it would not show the SSDM.2 H drive and the Standard NVM Express Controller Drive would not load. For some reason when a Restart (Soft Boot) is made the driver does not load.. so no M.2 drive....

Inaccessible Boot Device AFTER Standard NVM Express Controller Driver Update

IDT to Present on NVM Express Standard for PCIe SSDs

Integrated Device Technology, Inc. (IDT), the Analog and Digital Company delivering essential mixed-signal semiconductor solutions, today announced that it will be presenting on the NVM Express (NVMe) specification as well as exhibiting its latest enterprise flash controller products in booth #707 at the Flash Memory Summit, held in Santa Clara, CA on August 21-23.

Peter Onufryk, director of engineering in the Enterprise Computing Division at IDT, will present “How the Streamlined Architecture of NVM Express Enables High Performance PCIe SSDs.” The presentation will provide an overview of NVM Express along with a detailed outline of the specification’s performance features.

The NVM Express standard defines an optimized register interface, command set, and feature set for PCI Express solid-state drives (SSDs). By eliminating the need for proprietary drivers, NVMe is helping to drive the adoption of PCIe SSDs and realize the performance potential of SSD technology. IDT will be demonstrating its latest flash controllers at the Flash Memory Summit.

“As the developer of the industry’s first flash controller with native PCIe for enterprise SSDs and a founding member of the NVMe promoter group, IDT is committed to the development of enterprise PCIe-based flash controllers,” said Kam Eshghi, Sr. Director of Marketing of the Enterprise Computing Division of IDT. “PCI Express provides the performance and low latency needed to realize the full potential of enterprise SSDs. The Flash Memory Summit is an ideal venue for showcasing the innovative work that IDT has been doing in this area.”
