Inaccessible Boot Device after Upgrading CPU.

Recently I decided to upgrade my system since Microcenter was having a bundle sale. I had a spare case and PSU sitting around, so I built the new PC. When everything looked good, I powered the system on and it gave a blue screen error message stating "INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE." The system runs on an Intel 660p and had dual boot Ubuntu. I Messed with the boot order so that Ubuntu is booted first, and it worked with no problem. I was able to boot and see all my Windows files. I put the SSD into my old system to see if it was the drive that was scuffed, and it booted Windows with no problem. I wa

    Inaccessible boot device

This is a Microsoft link on inaccessible boot device:
    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/win...le-boot-device

It is an intermediate level link.
There are more advanced steps that can be ran once the partition structure is known.
There are steps for repair of the boot sector, operating system, etc.
Sometimes this bugcheck can be caused by windows updates.

A reset save files equivalent may be able to be performed.
Alternatively a clean install can be performed once important files are backed up.

    "Inaccessible Boot Device" error

    Hi Bill,

The Inaccessible Boot Device error is usually occurring if a device driver that the computer boot controller needs is corrupted. For us to provide an effective solution, we would need you to answer the following questions:

    • Which build and edition of Windows 10 is currently installed on your computer?
    • Can you boot the PC to the desktop?
    • What update are you trying to uninstall?
    • What error message are you getting when you are trying to uninstall the update?

Since you already performed the troubleshooting steps that you mentioned in your post, we suggest performing an in-place upgrade. This
    article published by
PaulSey provides further information on how to perform an in-place upgrade with Windows 10. In-place upgrade can repair Windows system files and can give you an option to keep your program and personal files. Check if the same issue persists
    after performing an in-place upgrade.

We are looking forward to your response.
