  1. Inactivity Timeout

    I have read several of the 18 pages of replies to the original question concerning the "Inactivity Timeout" setting, none of which worked for me including typing "Local Security Policy" in the search bar. I am not a fan of Win10 at all, in my humble opinion it is absolutely the most user-unfriendly OS I have used to date. The answer to everyone's question is found here;

    Click on/touch the Windows logo at the far left of the task bar at the bottom of your screen. Click on/touch the "gear" settings icon on the left, or go to Settings in the menu. Click on/touch Personalization. Click on/touch Lock Screen in the menu on the left. Scroll to the bottom and you should see "Screen saver settings" in blue text, click on/touch that link. A pop-up box will appear with a mini preview screen of your selected screen saver. Beneath that image is the drop down menu for screen saver selection and beneath that you see "Wait"... this is the inactivity timer. Raise the minutes to your preferred setting and click/touch Apply in the lower right corner, then OK. Voila, your screen will not time out while you're reading emails, web pages, etc., et al.*Note: clear the box to the right of the timer selection and you will not have to "log on" should you be away from the computer longer than your selected time. Just touch the screen or hit Enter and your session will resume where you were. If you were on a website that has its own timer you may have to log in to the page/site again.

    It is important for users to understand that this timer and the Sleep/Turn Display Off timer settings in the Power & Sleep section are not the same thing at all!! Quite frankly I am amazed at the number of neophytes with IT certifications working at Microsoft and assisting in this and other threads who did not know how this works, no intent to impune their character or discount their knowledge/expertise in other areas. I have gotten good advice from members of the Microsoft IT team over the years. Nevertheless.... there you go folks. Enjoy and you are most welcome!!
