So, today 2.18.2021, after a couple of hours of work I`ve noticed that my laptop HP EnvyX360 was extremely loud and warm. I`ve then opened task manager and looked at CPU and RAM usage although I tend to believe second one was irrelevant as the fans were making the noise 100%. No matter the case, what seemed to be rather abnormal was that there was nothing of very high demand and actual percentages were around 20 for both. After few restarts the problem didn't go away so instead I looked at app history - where I've found out that few search and indexing related tasks were very heavy on my CPU. Interestingly enough it also appeared in the processes tab of task manager afterwards. I`ve then looked on the web for a potential reason and found this page here: Fix High CPU usage due to SearchProtocolHost.exe in Windows 10 thegeekpage.com which seemed to offer a reasonable explanation so I attempted to go on with the fixes they suggested. Indeed there was an update pending to be installed, but after doing so it still wasn't fixed. Then I attempted to run troubleshooter as the guide recommended further, and here it found ad resolved which was indeed the case 2 problems: the inappropriate access permissions for search directories and something troubleshooter labeled as search failure which I couldn't find on the web. Although my device is ok now, I'm concerned about the cause for that abnormality. For starters my pc underwent a windows update just yesterday, and I wasn't sure why it didn't installed. Furthermore the device is brand new, and I'm positive I didn't temper with any file permission settings, and moreover I didn't find any information concerning this problem which happened due to the last update. The fact that troubleshooting this device also pointed out vulnerabilities in form of turned off security parameters mostly related to internet access I'm a bit concerned on the topic that there can be some malware on my device, yet I'm not sure where it possibly could originate from. This computer is only week old and the only software it has installed is either official Microsoft store one and JetBrain`s Intellij IDEA and Android Studio as well as standart installation of Rust programing language.. I hope that someone can inform me on the possible causes of that problem and perhaps advice on how to ensure that no malware is present on my device.

    :)

    E71 firmware v400.21.013 power consumption

My E71 had a problem with Garmin. Garmin was running background process (in the options it was disabled!) and i turned it off again now it's everything back to normal or even better power consumption!

So try to find the background service with some processes listing program and you'll have the solution.
