Windows 10: Inconsistent hard freeze, Windows 10

Hello. I've had this problem for a while now. It was even happening before I switched from Windows 7 to Windows 10.

It seems that it happens almost every time I play video games. It hard freezes, the only thing I can do is hold down the power button and restart it.


I ran the sfc scans, ran anti-malware stuff, checked forums and even my hardware, if anything is overheating, but hardware seems fine.


These three Events in the 'Administrative Events' usually come up around the time of the crash:

The previous system shutdown at 20:35:23 on ‎01/‎12/‎2020 was unexpected. Event: 6008

Immediately followed up by:

The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly. Event: 41


and after that:

Audit events have been dropped by the transport. 0 Event: 1101


Any ideas?

Windows 10 freezes randomly

I had already tried turning off fast startup, to no avail.
Will look at the list you provided, thanks. Hard to do when computer freezes on the Windows loading screen though. *Biggrin

I had tried that as well... no result.

Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK
