Windows 10: Incorrect keyboard characters in "Save" dialog from browsers

My keyboard types odd characters after Save As.... when logged into banking and after that. I don't know how to fix it afterwards.


I saw from previous posts that other users have the same problem and that Sophos' keyboard protection under "secured browser" seems to be the problem. When switching off the keyboard protection the problem goes away. But I don't think this is the correct solution as it renders internet banking unsafe.


I use Windows 10 on an HP Laptop as well as a Lenovo laptop and ESET Internet Security on both machines. Even with external keyboards one bluetooth kbd and one USB wireless keyboard I experience the same problem.


The keyboard does not always come right after I used my banking. Sometimes it helps to type characters in Notepad, but other times this doesn't help and I have to reboot.


I hope the problem can be fixed somehow.


Has anyone found a safe solution yet?

Incorrect keyboard characters in "Save" dialog from browsers

A very weird thing happening with my keyboard characters - in the "Save" dialog box from my browser my keyboard is typing random incorrect characters. For example, pressing the "T" on the keyboard multiple times might give me a string of text like "o8dkejhrs".
This is ONLY happening in the save dialog box on my browser, all other keyboard input is working correctly.

Some background:

Issue first occurred using Google Chrome and has now reoccurred using Firefox.

Restart does not resolve the problem.

All drivers are up to date.

It is a Logitech wireless keyboard - batteries have been replaced, USB has been disconnected and moved to other ports.

Running Windows 10 - all latest updates have been installed.

Language settings all at ENGLISH - US.

I recently performed a clean install of Windows 10. Prior to that I'd not experienced this issue.

Dell XPS desktop PC.

Does anyone have any ideas?

1. Till your problem is resolved and you need to do urgent and limited typing, use Onscreen Keyboard - Type OSK in Windows Start Search Box (Cortana) > Click On-Screen Keyboard

2. Run Keyboard Troubleshooter

Type Troubleshoot in Windows Start Search box > Click Troubleshoot > Scroll down and click Keyboard > Run the troubleshooter > Follow onscreen directions

3. Uninstall & reinstall Keyboard Driver

Windows Key+X (Or right click on Start) > Click Device Manager > Expand Keyboards > Right click on Standard PS/2 Keyboard > Uninstall > Reboot the computer to reinstall
