Windows 10: Incorrect location history in Microsoft account.

My location history shows me visiting other states yesterday and today. I have not left my house in California all weekend. Why is this happening?

Location disabled in Microsoft account

We understand that you are facing issues with disabled location



In order to get clarity and to assist you accordingly, please reply with the answer to the question below:

We would like to suggest that you perform the methods below and check if the issue persist:



To turn the Windows location settings on or off on your PC:

1. Go to Start > Settings > Privacy > Location.
   
2. Do one of the following:
   
   • To control location for the whole device if you’re an administrator on the device, select Change, and then in the Location for this device message, switch the setting to On or Off.
     
   • To control location for just your user account, switch the Allow apps to access your location setting to On or Off. If Location for this device is off appears on the settings page, you won’t be able to turn on the Allow apps to access your location setting for an individual user account. (Note that in previous versions of Windows, this setting was called Location service.)
     

How to control location settings?

Windows location settings give you control over whether Windows features can access your device’s location and which Windows apps can use your device’s location and location history information. To check your location settings, go to Start > Settings > Privacy > Location.

To clear location history, either restart your device, or go to Start > Settings > Privacy > Location, and under Location history, select Clear. Clearing the location history only clears the history on the device. Apps that accessed the history before it was cleared may have stored it elsewhere. Refer to your apps’ privacy policies for more info.

To clear location history that’s been stored in the cloud and is associated with your Microsoft account, go to account.microsoft.com, and make sure you’re signed in to your account. Select Clear location activity, and then select Clear.

Incorrect Location being automatically detected

Thank you for your response. I really appreciate your assistance.

1. I have proxy set to off
   
2. I am experiencing the issue being connected wirelessly
   
3. I tried your suggestion in step 3 and the problem still exists
   
4. I did clear the location history and restarted the location to no avail
   

Some additional information that I find interesting.



When I logged into my Microsoft account and did a Find My Device I get yet another address in California. 477 Catalina Way Vallejo, CA 94589.

Another attempt was 684 Catalina Cir, Vallejo, CA 94589

All in the same vicinity and all in California. I guess this eliminates what I thought was a problem with the apps.



Is it possible that in the past week there is another device out there that has the same MAC address as mine?

 

Microsoft Edge will not accept my home Location

Sorry for the inconvenience caused to you. I understand that Microsoft Edge shows incorrect location of your computer.

Before we proceed, please answer the following questions to help you better.

• 
  Do you see the incorrect location on a specific website?
  
• 
  Where did you input your town and post code to change the location?
  

I would like to let you know that the Microsoft Edge will detect the location that is configured on the system.

I suggest that you turn off and turn on the Location option in Settings. To do so, follow these steps.

• 
  Press Windows key + I to open Settings.
  
• 
  Click on Privacy on select Location
  tab.
  
• 
  Check if Location is turned ON.
  
• 
  If yes, turn it OFF and turn ON
