  1. Incorrect Program Names

Hi! I have a problem with my programs not displaying their correct name or the correct filename of the file it opens. As shown on the top left area of the photo that I have attached below. This happens to programs like VLC, IDM, Acrobat Reader, Premier Pro, etc. What should I do? I hope somebody can help me with this. Thank you in advance. 2. Why did the startup window get cleared?

I didn't missed any step, the list was gone and gone , even after using lot of programs the programs were not listed in that list.

Windows 10 1709 System Restore problems...

That seems to be an attempt at Option 2 in the tutorial, which requires you to
    a. Boot to a command prompt (Did you?)
    b. You then seem to be mixing steps 3,4 and 5, thus your command is incorrect.

I suggest Option 1 is easier.

If you still have problems, please repost listing each specific step and saying which option from the tutorial you are using. Thanks.

  4. Incorrect Program Names

    Network name incorrect

I have been collecting everything I can find on the setup. I have some screenshots to illustrate my findings.
I have also found all the references in the registry that seem to be relevant, that is, any that include the various network names i listed earlier. I can upload screenshots of those if necessary, but not confuse this message with another 6 or so screenshots today!

The first and most obvious possibility is that the device manager still shows the WiFi USB adapter but as not working.
I will remove that first. The second possibility is the hidden menu under Network Connections called Advanced Settings. I am not at all sure what those three items mean, but it looks like the router might need to be in there somewhere?

Does it still do that? If not, how did you cure it?

    First, to Jack Hughes:
Sounds like a problem with the accompanying metadata in the 5GHz network not being used somewhere.
Does it still do that in your setup? If not, how did you cure it?

In my registry I found a mention of the incorrect network name under the key FriendlyName.
Elsewhere in this forum I found this thread - Trying to change 'FriendlyName' in registry
Sadly, the similar/same problem was never solved!

Second, in my Device manager I switched to show hidden devices and found that the WiFi 5G USB module I had temporarily used was still listed, but as not working. Correct, as I had unplugged it! I uninstalled that and restarted the desktop. Result was that the Device Manager now correctly lists the network from the RJ45 port with the correct name.

BUT, the Internet icon still gives it the incorrect name - the WLAN5 name which is the WiFi network that is not used on this desktop!

Checking in the registry, the FriendlyName entry now shows CLAN - hooray! BUT (again!) in the registry HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Control Panel\Settings\Network\Preferences is shown SelectedWiFiProfile - WLAN5
    See screenshot Router-7.jpg

I carried on searching the registry and found the wrong name in only one more place
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\NetworkList\Profiles\{09D53BC2-2B40-4441-AE93-A021DA92FF8B}

I could alter both of those entries and see what happens I suppose! But dare I? *sarc
