Windows 10: Incorrect side-by-side configuration Possibly a symptom of a deeper underlying problem

TL;DR I have a side-by-side configuration issue for all my programs that I can't seem to solve.

I'm not too sure what the root cause is but allow me to explain what happened.


Today I have encountered a problem where I am unable to access any of my programs on my computer, with the error screen capped above. I looked online to try and solve my problems but to no avail. Below are the fixes I have tried along with the results of my attempt


- Ran SFC Scan and Restore Health No errors arose

- Attempted to uninstall Microsoft Visual C++ Received an Error 1719, Windows Installer Service could not be accessed

- Attempted to run a Systems Restore Restore had failed.

- Downloaded the Media Creation Tool for a full reset Can't access tool as it has the side by side error as well


I did a deeper dive into the matter and I looked up the error in Event Viewer for SideBySide and these were the details I got. This is a recurring issue with the other errors as well.





So then I assumed all I would need to do is to download Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0 Common Controls from https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=10019 and problem solved, but when I attempted to download it, again I have the side-by-side configuration error.


It just seems that I am running around in circles looking for a solution, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Side by side configuration incorrect

I'm attempting to install some software (namely sage accounts ) on a fresh install of windows 10 pro.
After installation (which appears to be successful) I receive the "error side by side configuration incorrect " when trying to run the app ..
I have googled the hell out of this and only find threads suggesting deleting all c++ versions and re installing.

I have tried several re installs of the software and following the above guide to no avail.. can anyone suggest a fix for this please ??

Windows 10 1709 System Restore problems...

That seems to be an attempt at Option 2 in the tutorial, which requires you to
a. Boot to a command prompt (Did you?)
b. You then seem to be mixing steps 3,4 and 5, thus your command is incorrect.

I suggest Option 1 is easier.

If you still have problems, please repost listing each specific step and saying which option from the tutorial you are using. Thanks.
