Windows 10 pro that was installed on a compter with GPT partitioning which is GUID Partion Tables GPT ON MY Alienware M18R2 laptop that needs to be restored. I used the restore point but it failed. I used media creation tool from Microsoft but it would not install because it says the media creation tool on thevUSB dies not word with GOT partioning. RGDS. CY have Windows 10 Pro Restored. I downloaded a install on a usb and when I tried to install it the computer said need GPT instead of MRB so I followed a you tube video and erased my 0 partition I got to where it says disk is empty but did not type in GPT command because I was told that
the installing usb by windows would convert the partition to GPT by itself also the video did not tell me to type in GPT after the command prompt says disc clean. Now when I try to boot from the usb the computer says something missing . Now I cant get into
bios or command prompt I did not tell command prompt to make the empty partition to GPT because I was told that windows 10 pro does it by it self and the video did not have this step but viewing other videos the step convert to GPT was in there help I am
a novice at this so need
help for idiots tutorial

Help on Partition 1TB HDD into GPT format

Hi people, I am planning to convert a 1TB hdd into GPT format. Here's how I want to partition the disk: 450MB for WinRE, 100MB for EFI, 128MB for MSR, 5GB for Recovery, 100GB for windows and then the rest are for more partitions.
My question here, are these partion sizes okay for an UEFI Windows 10 installation? Especially, I cannot be sure how large the Recovery and WinRE, partitions should be. So some advice would be helpful.

1. You cannot convert mbr to gpt without data loss. otherwise, you can follow directions here:

FROM WINDOWS RECOVERY CONSOLE:

To change a master boot record disk into a GUID partition table disk using a command line

• 
  Back up or move the data on the basic master boot record (MBR) disk you want to convert into a GUID partition table (GPT) disk.
  
• 
  Open an elevated command prompt (right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as Administrator) and type diskpart. If the disk does not contain any partitions or volumes, skip to step 6.
  
• 
  At the DISKPART prompt, type list disk. Make note of the disk number you want to convert.
  
• 
  At the DISKPART prompt, type select disk <disknumber>.
  
• 
  At the DISKPART prompt, type clean.
  

2. I'd suggest converting your vista drive to a virtual machine, load that up on your windows 10 system and use a program like virtualbox to run it.
