Windows 10: inf file DriverVer shows date and time and not version

Trying to update driver code from windows version 7 to windows 10.in the .inx file, in the [Version] section, I have thisDriverVer = 05/10/2022,2.0.0.0The inf file that gets produced has DriverVer = 05/10/2022,12.43.20.306The old .inf file had date and then a version number. The new .inf file has date and time. Then, when trying to install, windows takes the time without the date as the version number and rejects it because it thinks that driver is an older version.I can hand edit the version to be larger, and then it installs, but it does give a warning about the signing hash not matching.H

Editting inf file shows "driver is not digitally signed" error

Hello.

I am trying to insert proper date in the inf files for Intel chipset drivers. By default they got Intel's birth date as default.

E.g.

[Version]
Signature=$WINDOWS NT$
Class=System
ClassGUID={4D36E97D-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
Provider=%INTEL%
CatalogFile=ApolloLake.cat
DriverVer=07/18/1968, 10.1.17.1

As soon as I change the text string for the date (DriverVer=), Windows 10 complaints the driver isn't digitally signed.

I find puzzling that editting a supposed TEXT file does this.

Any ideas?

To change the Driver date, you would need to locate the inf file for that specific driver in C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore

Then open that file with Notepad, look for the DriverVer entry and edit the date on that line . .

I suggest you to change the Date and Time format from Control Panel and check. Also select the time zone as UTC-5.00 Eastern Time.


After changing the setting, I suggest you to set “Windows Time” service as automatic. Follow the steps provided below.

• Press Windows logo Key + R key.
• Type services.msc
• Right click on Windows Time service.
• Select Properties.
• Under startup type drop down, change it to Automatic.
• Click on Apply button and OK button.

Restart your computer and check.
