    For some reason the DVD recordrer/player in my Dell Inspiron desktop does not recognise a brand new blank DVD disc. Any comments on how this can be addressed?

    WILL THE WIDOWS DVD RECORDER BURN VIDEOS TO A DVD DISC; THAT CAN THEN BE PLAYED ON AN ORDINARY DVD HOUSE PLAYER; THAT IS CONNECTED TO HOME TV. ?

    In that case, it is possible the problem is with the blu ray player not supporting DVD+R disks.

    Suggest you check to make sure: it's possible you can overcome this problem by simply burning DVD-R instead of DVD+R. Check your blu ray compatibility list first.
