  1. Input requested - troubleshooting significant slowdown after last update

    Hi folks,

Hoping for some help here as I am stumped. After updating to Windows 20H2 my laptop is significantly slower and I can figure out what is going on. I don't have particularly deep knowledge of PCs but know enough to have tried a all of the suggestions found on google. I have done a clean boot that didn't help, ran various fixes through the command prompt, and a few other things suggested on Microsoft's site.

My computer is a Lenovo Legion that is ~3.5 years old, so specs are not the issue. Plenty of RAM and storage, though when I first updated I had my SSD almost full of games. Everything I do with the computer is slow - chrome loads slowly, games take forever to boot, startup is slow. Also, I often have to manually toggle off/on the wifi to get it to connect after a restart.

Any other ideas I should try? I am not tech savvy enough to understand what that various potential causes of this could be. Please let me know if there is more info I should be providing here, thanks!

    Windows 10 slowdown

    Hi Aman,

There are some factors that may cause the computer to slowdown, corrupt Windows system files, is one of the factor that can slow down the computer and cause other problems.

To isolate the issue, we would like to ask some information:

    • Did you get any error messages?
    • Have you done any changes on your computer prior to the issue?
    • What troubleshooting steps have you done so far?

We will wait for your response.

The tutorials provided are just a list of troubleshooting steps. Use only the steps which apply to you.

Since none of the troubleshooting steps here worked, I'd suggest you do a Clean install.

    • Click on Run maintenance task under System and Security.

    Step 2:
    Run Hardware and Device Troubleshooter.

    Please follow the steps.

    • Press Windows Key + R, type Control Panel.
    • Type Troubleshooting in the search bar, click on Troubleshooting.
    • Click on Hardware and Sound, click on Hardware and Devices.
