system volume is low when I record

Recently I noticed that when I record something using either Techsmith Camtasia or Techsmith SnagIt or OBS and I play it back the volume of the person speaking is very low. As I recorded I listened to the speaker and the volume was good. The last time I
used a recorder (at least a couple of months ago) all was OK. I've searched the internet, none of the suggested fixes have produced any positive results. I'm using a desktop that I built several years ago. At the time of the build, I used the fastest components
available that I could afford. My boot drive is an SSD and only the OS (Win10 pro x64) is on it. All of my data and backups are on internal hard drives. I've checked for updates and everything is at the latest level. For my headset, I currently use a Logitech
G930. Currently, my external speakers and webcam are NOT connected, all are packed away somewhere.

As a test for a solution, I downloaded other recording software but had the same low volume issue. After testing I removed the software.

When I record with Camtasia or OBS I can see the audio track and I can see that it is low.

If I play any music or videos the audio I hear is great but if I use Camtasia or SnagIt or OBS to record the music or videos the recorded volume is very low when I play it back. To my knowledge, I'm recording the System Audio

Any suggestions?

 

New computer, new Win 10, recordings muffled and low volume

A couple of things to check: (Based upon my own experience with Audacity and Win 10) Back up a step and see if you can get your selected microphone to work in the Windows Sound section of Settings as the default input device. Make note of the name of the device and then select that same named Mic input in Audacity. In my case, I have a USB camera with a built-in microphone and also a USB Cardioid Mic used for pro recordings. I have sometimes made the mistake of not selecting the correct Mic input in Audacity. The result is low-level audio that is unusable. (See screen shot)

 

Microphone Recording Volume is Low

Hey there,

I have been experiencing the issue regarding the microphone recording volume.

So far I have used the Apple Earbuds & Sony PS4 mono earphone as microphone but the recording volume is so low.

I have tried updating the driver. but, that didn't help either. and i also tried the same earphones in my windows 10 laptop and it records perfectly. But not properly in my desktop PC.

So kindly help me resolve my issue.
