Windows 10: INS key not functioning in overtype mode

Hello, I am using Windows 11 on a Lenovo laptop. After I installed additional language packages, the ins key stopped functioning in overtype mode. At first everything was all right, after the language packs and MS Office the overtype mode disappeared. Now it either does nothing, or opens the Edge explorer... The ctl+F combinations also stopped functioning... When I use an external keyboard everything is OK, but when I use the laptop keyboard it acts strange. What can I do - I tried almost every setting, none works.Thank you!

Go to the options ---> alt + o (one or two times) then ---> advanced options

To enable the INSERT key in order to control Overtype mode, click to select the " Use the Insert key to control overtype mode " check box.

To keep Overtype mode always enabled, click to select the "Use overtype mode " check box.

Method 2

Right-click the Status bar, and then click Overtype. "Insert" is now displayed on the left side of the Status bar.

To use Overtype mode, click Insert on the Status bar. "Overtype" is now displayed on the left side of the Status bar.

Overtype mode keeps occurring by itself on Windows 10

My computer has been continuously entering overtype mode in multiple programs (as if I hit the 'ins' key) by itself. This is a new installation of the latest Windows 10.

Anyone noticing this?

Anyone know the registry value to block this?

 

Overtype key

I used to use the Insert key as overtype key when I'd made a mistake, this doesn't work any more. I haven't found a key to use for overtyping, I have to delete the entire word and then retype the word I want.

What can I do?
