Install EVGA GTX 1050ti, black screen upon boot

I tried to install an EVGA GTX 1050 TI GPU today and when I booted the system after installation all I could get was a black screen. My system:
    - Dell Studio XPS 9100, CPU I7-930, 9GB Ram, 525W Power Supply
    - These are the steps I took to install:
    -- Flashed Bios (A04)
-- Deleted my drivers for my old GPU
-- Shut down and unplugged power and disconnected everything from the PC
-- Removed old GPU from the PCI-E 16 slot
-- Installed new GPU in that same slot
-- Connected my Dell U2713HM digital monitor to the DVI port
-- Connected pwr cord and booted; result - black screen.

Tried this 3 times, same result

Reinstalled old GPU (AMD Radeon 5750 which works

Looked at the BIOS for a setting they may need tweeking, but saw none that would seem relevant.

    Any ideas?

    :)

Windows 10 Forgets NVIDIA driver after every reboot

Thanks for the quick reply, unfortunately my card is a GTX 1050Ti by EVGA and it doesn't require a PSU to GPU cable. I'm wondering if it's something to do with updating my drivers via the Nvidia Xperience software however. Install EVGA GTX 1050ti, black screen upon boot :(

Thanks again. Install EVGA GTX 1050ti, black screen upon boot :)

    NVIDIA Not Finding Driver??

Just got my EVGA GTX 1050TI 4gb and I put it in I heard the snap, I heard that this one relies on only the motherboard for power. When I try to upgrade the driver it says "NVIDIA Driver Installer could not continue"

"The graphics driver could not find compatible graphics hardware"

  5. If it did not work then I would contact EVGA or who ever you purchased this card from.

Install EVGA GTX 1050ti, black screen upon boot

Circa 2011, Dell Studio XPS 9100. I did contact customer service at EVGA and they thought this card should work in my system. I then contacted their service department & the tech rep thought there might be something in the BIOS that I needed to tinker with, but he couldn't steer me as to what.

At any rate, although it works well the system is quite old with an old BIOS (2014 is the most current) and I'm afraid I'll need to return this card and stay with my old one.

It has an HMDI port but that connection doesn't work either.

In the past, I have had to clear the CMOS to get a PC to recognize a new graphics card. No guarantees that it'll help, but it's worth a try.

(The jumper is right next to the CMOS button cell.)

    Good luck.

Still a no-go. I've boxed the card for a return. Thanks for your feedback. Perhaps I've a faulty card. I may try another.

Install EVGA GTX 1050ti, black screen upon boot

I just installed the same card with no problems. Did you set the BIOS to initialize the PCI-E output first? If not, your motherboard might be using the onboard GPU.

Can you see the BIOS screen using the new card or is it just Windows which give the black screen? If the latter, use the onboard GPU or your old GPU and remove all old video drivers using this https://www.guru3d.com/files-details...-download.html

Thanks Steve, actually I did not get a "black" screen as my initial post stated, I got a "blank" screen. At any rate, my XPS 9100 has an I7 930 CPU with no onboard GPU. I did delete the drivers on the old GPU (AMD 5750) using the Device Manager; however, I did not think to look for any "old drivers." I returned the 1050TI; however, I'm still pretty sure this card will work in this XPS 9100 and after a bit more research I'd like to purchase it again. My PSU has a 6pin connector and maybe I should try the 1050 version that requires the connection. I guess it could be that I had a bad card, but I think that is unlikely. This XPS 9100 is old but it's still pretty robust & this 1050TI really hits the sweet spot for me for price & performance - I really want to pull it all together. Thanks for your feedback, and enjoy your 1050 TI.

I couldn't get the EVGA 1050 TI to work and returned it. I then ordered an ASUS 1050 TI and I installed it and was up an running in a matter of minutes. I suspect my EVGA card may have been DOA.
