Windows 10: Install windows-10 on gpt SSD under legacy BIOS

#1I want to install w10 on a gpt ssd in a legacy bios box to multi-boot with several Linux distros, is this possible? I think I've done it before a long time ago but forget the details.#2This machine is being prepped for disposal, is it legal to pre-install and let the ultimate owner register it or whatever that protocol is called these days?TIA

Installing Windows 10 on SSD, program asks for MBR and GPT

On all modern PC's that SSD must have a partition Style of GPT, is is only older systems with Legacy BIOS that will have a hard drive formatted to MBR . . .

Disconnect that other drive, leaving just the installation media and the SSD Connected

To convert your Drive to GPT:

At the very start of the Installation Process, press Shift + F10, or Shift + Fn + F10 to open Command Prompt

Run this command and hit Enter:

diskpart

Run this command and hit Enter:

list disk

(Make note of the disk number you want to convert and enter it into the next command - replace disknumber)

Run this command and hit Enter:

select disk disknumber

Run this command and hit Enter:

clean

Run this command and hit Enter:

convert gpt

Then close Command Prompt

Begin the installation . . .

 

drive needs to be formatted as GPT but BIOS is legacy and not UEFI

Are you sure your BIOS is legacy? Windows setup will only require a GPT partitioned drive if the Windows installation media is booted into in UEFI mode. What did you use to create your Windows 10 installation media with... I'll bet RUFUS?
