Windows 10: install windows 10 to new HHD

This is poor advice. Much better advice is to make an image back up of current install, upgrade to CU and then you can revert if you get issues. Frankly this advice is nonsense - every build upgrade gets issues. When TH2 came out, people said stick to RTM, AU, stick to TH2 etc. Vast majority do not get issues.

Even people say, I will wait until it is stable but totally fail to realise the day it is most stable is the day before the next upgrade so you would wait for ever on that basis.

So do it the intelligent way:-

Make an image backup, upgrade and MAKE YOUR OWN MIND UP.

And make an image from what ? He has a new drive to install W10 on.

There is no current install. Why would you recommend installing a certain version, then upgrade it when he can just do a clean install now. Now that`s bad advice.

Then as it is a clean install, why not go for CU first - it works fine on majority of PCs.

What has he got to lose other than a bit of time if he has to back track.?

My advice is positive - do it. Yours is negative - don't do it.

 

My vote is for Creator's Update. Working fine with no issues on 8 computers on my home network.

I have install the home windows 10, it did install, but now it do not want to activate the license at all, i dis use hardware change, but still not

 

I did have home edition windows 10 on my laptop, so now I have installed it again, but it does not accepted the home serial key that is with my Microsoft user id, all that has changed it just a new HHD, where can I found out on how to fixed this

 

Hi, you shouldn't need to enter any license code (see posts above).

If stuck, please contact your regional MS activation centre.

Note: if you had Home before, you should have Home now. Likewise, Pro.
Have you used the same language edition?

Did you install Windows 10 Home Single Language Edition? That is likely the wrong version and you need just plain Windows 10 instead.

 

I did install home, but I think is the wrong one, busy download Single Language version now, hope this will work.

Must I format the HDD again, to install new version

I did download the one I needed this morning, and just convert it to to be able to boot from the usb drive, will do clean install tonight, thanks for the info

 

Does your computer have a Windows 7 Certificate of Authenticity (COA) sticker on it? That will tell you what version you need to install.
