Windows 10: install windows 8.1 grub 2.06 USB unable to read...

so for some reason when i stick the USB into the computer which was wiped when i got it it doesn't do anything even when i type USB it still says "usb devices:" nothing and i tried a lot of stuff but it would give me an error.i am just trying to get Windows 8.1 on to the thing, i don't even know how to use grub!but i don't know the CD key but i'm not there yet all i want is to get it to read the usb. please help, i probably did something wrong and just need to do something else... but what?

Installing windows off of a USB stick

Step By Step from vista:
From admin cmd prompt

1. diskpart
1a. list disk
2. select disk 1 (replace 1 with your usb drive)
3. clean
4. create partition primary
5. select partition 1 (replace 1 with your usb drive)
6. active
7. format fs=fat32
8. assign
9. exit

Copy Windows Vista's DVD ROM content to the Flash Drive

xcopy d:\*.* /s/e/f e:\ (d being your vista cd and e being your usb stick)

And that's it, boot off your usb disk

 

Linux Noob - Ubuntu fails on install GRUB error 2

I dont think it would be a problem with the UDMA mode cause Grub is installed on the MBR of the hard disk and even if grub can be read and the O.S cant start it should atleast display the list.
I say you should try a re-install but first when you boot up the cd select check C.D fo defects.

 

Unable to install any OS

Hi guys, I'm unable to install any OS. I tried ubuntu and got input/output error, tried installing window 7 error 0x80000010.

Downloaded iso's of both again and again still same result. Got a new SSD still the same, tried a different usb still the same.

I'm fed up, have been trying since the past 1 month still am unable to install.
I've listed my specs in my profile.

PS Have even tried/changed my ram.
Where the pug is the problem ?

I have been using live usb to work on computer for now but I need a permanent OS.
