    Hi!
I noticed that these two exe show up in my task list after about 2'30" from boot... I don't remember about them (maybe they came with the last W10 update). What they are in for? Can I prevent them from start?
    Thank You!
    Joe

    Hi Michelle,

I am a real person, and I will answer this for you!

InstallAgentUserBroker.exe is used / called by the Windows Store app to download / update a program or app.

This program checks and communicates with the local machine registry certificates and networking settings.

Another called InstallAgent.exe talks between the file and registry part of the system and creates checkpoints.

This does run sort of high at times but depending on the ENTIRE environment conditions (hardware/software) this could vary.

If you don't already have a solid state drive, now is a good time to start looking, you will barely (if at all) notice any of this anymore!

You could try disabling Automatic App Updates in Task Scheduler (Microsoft/Windows/WindowsUpdate).

    It does not help too...

    InstallAgent.exe and InstallAgentUserBroker.exe

...this happens on my Win10Pro installed on my desktop PC ...and the weird things is that on the Win10Home installed on my notebook everything is fine: even if Automatic App Updates is enabled in Task Scheduler and and in Store settings, these two exe doesn't start up with Windows (InstallAgent.exe starts only when I start Shop and closes automatically when I close the Store).

...oh my gosh... while I was writing the previous post both exes disappeared from task list... *Shock
of course i expect to find them there after the next reboot... let's see *Think

    ***UPDATE***
Of course there they were after the reboot... But I discovered that if I disconnect current user and I relog with the same user, these two exes won't load.

EDIT: They starts the same but with about 5-6 minutes of delay.

I get the same on 10 Pro as you get in Home. InstallAgent.exe appears when I open store, InstallAgentUserBroker.exe appears (briefly) when I click on check for updates. When I close the store InstallAgent.exe ends again.

If disabling the task doesn't work I'm no sure what to suggest. Something must trigger App updates when not in Store (because they definitely update) but I don't know what.

Thanks anyway for your time... Let's see what it happens with the next Win10 update. *Smile

EDIT: if I start Store after user disconnection and re-log, both IstallAgent.exe and InstallAgentUserBroker.exe start but don't close after I close the Store.

Ok, I think I've solved this issue and I'd like to thank lx07 for addressing me to the Store.
I opened the Store and I noticed four Apps in queue for an update (Mail, Calendar, XBox etc. all stuff I don't use) so I started every single update and I quickly cancelled it (I didn't see any "Cancel All" button/option).
I restarted the PC and, yes: after about 2 minutes from boot I saw InstallAgent.exe appearing in my tasklist for few seconds and then closing itself (as it's supposed to be, imvho). No sign of InstallAgentUserBroker.exe (or it started and closed itself so quickly that my tasklist didn't intercept it *Biggrin ).

So, if anyone has the same issue of these two "fellows" hangin' out in the tasklist... Just open the Store and cancel every pending app update in the list (by starting it before because, I repeat, I didn't see any "Cancel" or "Cancel all" option).
    I hope this helps.
