Windows 10: Installation fails whenever I try to upgrade from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10

I have an admittedly dated Acer Aspire that is currently running Windows 8.1. Previously, I successfully upgraded to Windows 10 but soon learned that the online certification courses I was taking were not compatible with Windows 10, so I had to roll back to Windows 8.1, and it has remained 8.1 since then. With support for 8.1 expiring soon, I need to again upgrade to Windows 10. Windows 11 is not compatible with my computer. I checked to be sure my computer has the required disk space. I navigated to the Windows 10 installation on Microsoft.com, and followed all the steps through, up until i

Nope, you need to install Windows 10 first and make sure the Windows 7 key is transferred to your Windows account after you've installed Windows 10 (not quite sure how that works). I missed the last step and I could not activate Windows 10 after a re-install... Microsoft seem to have done everything they can to make it a PITA. Also, it's technically too late to do this now anyhow, as the upgrade offer has expired. But KMSPico works quite well...

As for getting rid of Windows, delete the Windows folder.

Windows Updates failed to instal

I just did step one and they have just all installed.... thank you so much.... it was quite frustrating having that update window pop up every 5 minutes and failing to instal every time
