Windows 10: Installed a fake version of blender

Split from this thread. Hi _AW_I've seen that you've been helping others with this issue. I have the same possibly worse thing going on that none of my antivirus softwares seem to be able to find. It appears that someone is able to gain total controll of my chrome browser, they've tried to access my bank and other financial sights luckily I have 2 factor authentication on all of it. Would you be able to create a fix for me as well and if you have the time maybe explain a little of what you're looking for as I'd love to learn more about it, again only if you have time. Here are my logs

Which version of Blender is installed on the computer?

I see that Blender, version 2 is compatible with Windows 10. To verify, click the following link.

If you are using the compatible version, then the issue could be due to some third party services or applications.

Place the computer in clean boot and check if the issue persists. You may follow the article mentioned to perform a clean boot.

A clean boot allows the Windows operating system to launch without any additional programs or services running when you turn the computer on. This allows you to determine if computer issues are caused by a program or service that starts up when you
boot the machine.

Run exe (not an installer) always gives "install non-verified app" warning (for Blender)

I downloaded the latest Blender (3.1.2) from blender.org as a ZIP and unzipped it, because I want to execute it alongside other Blender versions that I already have installed.

Every time I try to execute blender.exe (3.1.2) I get a Windows (10) popup: "The app you're trying to install isn't a Microsoft-verified app..." If I select "Install anyway" it runs. The exe is not an installer, just a regular app.

• I'm not trying to install anything. Why does Windows think so?
  
• Reconfiguring Windows to "allow install from anywhere" is a terrible workaround, and not really a solution at all. Security is a good thing.
  
• Does anyone else see this? Does anyone have an explanation / workaround / solution? Thanks.
  

 

How can I open an .obj file in Blender

Setting File Associations in Windows 10 is currently a bit buggy

Right click an obj file, choose 'Open WIth' - Choose Another App

IMPORTANT - Check the box marked 'Always use this app to open objx . . .'

If Blender is not in the list, scroll to the bottom and click 'More Apps'

Again if Blender is not in the list, at the bottom, click 'Look for another app on this PC', then navigate to find the blender executable and choose that

That is located here:

C:/program files (x86)/blender foundation/blender/blender.exe

That's It, once that is done, you should be able to double click an obj file to open it in Blender . . .
