Windows 10: Installed a new SSD, but now HDD isnt recognized

When I first bought my PC, it had a single 2tb HDD. After a couple of years I had received and installed a Samsung 850 EVO to which I migrated my Windows OS. Just now I bought and installed a Samsung 970 EVO Plus 2tb SSD into my PC's NVME slot. I migrated the OS from the 850 EVO to the 950 EVO Plus and formatted the 850. Both of those are recognized and working just fine. However, ever since I installed the 950 EVO Plus in the m.2 slot, the initial 2tb HDD has no longer been recognized.I have also since opened up the Intel Rapid Storage Technology where I saw these messagesoes this mean that

If I install a new SSD and reinstall Windows there, will the new Windows installation recognize my old HDD and SSD?

I am going to be upgrading my computer soon, and as part of that upgrade I will get a new SSD where I will reinstall Windows to.

I want to be able to use and access the data on my old HDD and old SSD from this new Windows installation.

Will Windows recognize the installation and let me access the data on the old drives?

Install of Win 10 from old HDD to new SSD

My PC has a WD 1 T HDD as the primary drive with Win 10 installed. There is also an 2nd older WD HDD for data storage purposes if ever needed - unlikely.

I recently bought a new 500 GB SSD drive. I would like to install my WIN 10 on the new SSD using it as the primary drive.

To install on the new SSD, would I unplug the WD 1 T HDD and install the new SSD drive on the MB and then install Win 10 on the SSD.

After the above, I assume I then reconnect The WD 1 T HDD. With the OS on the New SSD, will the apps and programs that are on the WD HDD operate or will I have to reinstall them on the new SSD As well how do I delete Win 10 from the HDD - do I simply delete the files or delete the partitions or just don’t bother. The WD HDD a was not even close to being full and was bought for faster access.

Any suggestions on how to get the new SSD to work properly and windows off the old WD HDD so it does not interfere with the new SSD would be appreciated.

 

OS on new SSD, keep existing data on HDD and use as external drive

Hi,

use steps you suggested, there should be no problem.

Just replace HDD with SSD first then run installation. Do not forget to remove Windows files from HDD after the end of a process.
