Windows 10: Installed font does not work in Office!

I have installed two new fonts on my new laptop. Although they are working in Notepad, they do not work in Office (Word and PowerPoint) and Office shows the default font. I have been using these fonts on my other laptop and PC, and they do not have any problem. I have uninstalled fonts and reinstall them again from other sources, but the problem remains. I tried another font from Microsoft store and it worked. It seems there is a problem with third part fonts, no matter what they are or what is the source.


My laptop (surface pro 6) runs Windows 10 Home and my office version is 18.1903.1152.0. I have uninstalled, reinstalled and updated Office and it did not help. I have read another thread (link) which asks about the same issue (different font) and it was not solved. They suggested to ask the question here.


The font that I am now interested in using is Lora and I have downloaded it from here, here and here.

Step 1:

• Download the font type you want to install.
• Right click and click on install.
• Check if you are able to view the fonts in documents.

Or

Step 2:

• Download the font type you want to install.
• Open Control Panel.
• Click on fonts.
• Now, drag and drop the downloaded fonts in the font’s folder.

I found these steps in this forum from back in 2010:

Step 1:

I would suggest you to try these steps and check whether it helps in fixing your issue.

Open font settings by clicking on start, click on control panel, and then click on appearance and personalization, under fonts click on change font settings. And select the font size.

Step 2:

If you’re trying to change windows font size then please follow the steps below:

To change Windows fonts

1. Open Appearance Settings by clicking the Start button and then clicking Control Panel. In the search box, type window color, and then click Change window colors and
metrics.

2. In the Item list, click the part of Windows that you want to change the font for. For example, if you want to change the menu font, click Menu in the list. Then, make any of the following changes:

· In the Font list, click the font that you want to use.

· In the Size list, click the font size that you want.

· In the Color list, click the font color that you want.

3. Repeat these steps for each item that you want to make changes to, and then click OK.

Adding Fonts

Hi,

Windows comes with pre-installed fonts, however, you can install other stylish fonts that you wish to use in your Windows system. To be able to add new fonts to your Windows apps and Microsoft Office apps, follow these steps:

• Close all of the Windows apps and Microsoft Office apps.
  
• Download .ttf files from a secured website that offers the fonts that you want to install on your Windows system.
  
• Once the .ttf file is downloaded, right-click on it and then click Install.

After the installation process, you should be able to use the newly installed fonts in most of your Windows apps and Microsoft Office apps.
