Windows 10: Installed programs cannot be found by Windows

Hello,


So yesterday I did something completely idiotic. I allowed Avast Premium Cleanup to take a stab at improving system performance on my 6 year-old laptop. For a long time I had experienced slow performance - but the main reason why I allowed it to go to work was a promise of liberating around 30 GB of unnecessary temp files (or something).


So now, certain applications (e.g. Steam) cannot be found by windows, even if they are freshly installed. The files are evidently in their folders, but the exe's are not allowed to run. In my frustration, I completely uninstalled everything Avast - even if I have used the antivirus feature for like 15 years. So I've also ruined any hope of having Avast reverse the damage done. I have no windows restore point either - those were also removed by Avast.


My questions are:
1) What could be the reason for Windows not being able to find a file that I am double clicking?
2) If I do a windows reset via the control panel, does that mean all programs are wiped out - but all pictures and documents remain?

windows xp installation and dual core am

could someone please list the steps they follow to install windows with a dual core processor and windows xp service pack to. I'm reletively new to amd dual core and i feel i'm missing a step. All help will be appreciated. thanx

 

Why did the startup window get cleared?

I didn't missed any step, the list was gone and gone , even after using lot of programs the programs were not listed in that list.

 

Windows 7 wont install drivers

i dont think anyone here understands what your asking either when its nearly a 90% english dominated Tech forum.
Step 1
reinstall windows from scratch
Step 2
install all drivers from the cd that came with the god damn motherboard *common sense*
Step 3
update windows
Step 4
install misc etc crap like flash java etc etc
Step 5
Install GPU drivers
Step 6
go back to using your pc without issue.
