Windows 10: Installed Windows update, now Microsoft app icons IE, Excel, Edge not visible on taskbar...

I cannot select/unselect tablet mode - it's greyed out.


I've tried rebooting, unpinning then re-pinning, restarting explorer - no luck


I can still open each app from the taskbar, it's just that where the icons should be is blank taskbar space. If I click on that space, the app opens.


This all followed the latest windows 10 update

I also lost me MS EDGE Icon recently.

The above suggestion doe not work as it does not exist in the app list

However, if I post a simple question in Cortina MS EDGE will open up.

Also If I then look at the active processes in Task Manager I can see MS EDGE (though not the usual ICON)

Any suggestions how to solve this problem?

Excel window covers the Windows taskbar

Thank you for your suggestion.

I am using Microsoft Excel for Office 365 MSO (16.0.11328.20492) 64-bit.

In Excel Options, under Advanced, I looked under the "Display" section, as well throughout, but could not find the option for "Show all windows in the taskbar".

The problem is, that is not the solution to the problem I am looking at. I already have all windows displayed/listed in the taskbar.

The problem is that the Excel window itself can be dragged from its top bar all the way to the bottom of my Windows screen (as far I like, but I usually am showing the top of the Excel window so I can view other windows above Excel), and will either cross
(cover) the Windows taskbar, or move underneath the Windows taskbar. I am trying to keep the Excel window under the Windows taskbar - otherwise I lose visibility of all my other program icons on the Windows taskbar.

No Cortana Icon on Microsoft Edge

Hi Praveen,

It is possible that the Show search and site suggestions as I type option in Microsoft Edge isn't enabled which explains why the Cortana icon is not visible. To check, follow these steps:

• Open Microsoft Edge.
• Click the Menu button (...).
• Click Settings.
• Scroll down and click View advanced settings.
• 
  Turn on the toggle switch for the Have Cortana assist me in Microsoft Edge
  option.
  
• 
  Turn on the toggle switch for the Show search and site suggestions as I type option.
