Windows 10: Installing a larger SSD in Windows 10. The current SSD has the operating system on it

Hi - I have a 2 year old Dell computer which has a 128GB SSD. I have purchased a 1TB SSD and would like to upgrade. The current SSD has Windows 10 on it. I have backup the entire existing SSD to a backup drive. I thought that I could do the following.


1. Replace the existing SSD with the upgrade.

2. Boot from the USB,

3. Restore the backup files to the upgraded SSD.


However, when I boot using the USB it states that it is going to install Windows 10. Is this an install of Windows 10 onto the new SSD? If so, what happens when I restore the backup which includes Windows 10 that was there from the original configuration of the Dell?

Move Windows 10 from installed hdd to installed ssd

If you want to move it from hard disk, system image or cloning would be your options:

Choose system image if the SSD is equal in size or larger than hard disk:

Choose cloning if its not:

OR

You can remove the hard disk, reinstall Windows 10 directly to SSD, reattach the hard drive and format it.

Moving my current SSD to a new system

Hello, I am looking to buy a brand new PC soon and I want to be able to use the SSD that I already have on my current system. The SSD that I already own has Windows 10 already installed on it. I do not mind having to freshly install Windows but I'm in
the dark a little on how to do that. Would I just connect the SSD and boot or are there some other steps I need to follow? Thanks.
