Windows 10: Installing Driver Doesn't Work

I have an Epson Perfection V300 Photo Scanner. It used to be installed on a computer running Windows 7.

I just hooked up the scanner. When I tried to download the driver using Windows automatic search for the drivers function, it told me that no drivers are available.

I went to the Epson website. I found the correct driver and downloaded it. When I click the file, it starts off saying its an Epson scanner file, but then it says it is installing Family Tree Legends FTL. FTL is a genealogy program I installed that does not work with Windows 10. I uninstalled the program. I ran CCleaner. I restarted the computer. I downloaded the file again. Every time I go to extract the files, it does it as an FTL file. I then ran a different registry cleaner Wise, and that did not help.

I called Epson and explained the situation. They told me to talk to Dell or Windows.

I am really up a tree! I need to get this scanner functioning. I don't know how else to troubleshoot this. Thank you.

I`m sorry I had not noticed that the text on the picture was in spanish. It says that windows has replaced some damaged clusters in "name" file and "directory". Then, at the end "an unspecified error occurred (75736e6a726e6c2e 4f6)".

I`ll do it and I`ll be updating this thread when I have the report.

I deleted all my data. I had have it backed up.

I did a clean installation using the windows media creation tool (usb option).

No, I didn`t. I thought a clean installation would solve the problem.

After posting my previous message, I did it.





After chkdsk, I close cmd and tried to boot and the laptop just turned it off. This morning I`ve restarted it and automatically windows did a repair. Windows has booted and it seems that the repair tool has removed chrome and acrobat pdf reader (the only two programs I had installed after reinstalling windows).

Now Windows is installing updates and restarting my lapop, I`m kind of frightened. I don`t want it to happen again. Anyhow, I want to know what has brought the issue

I`ve been looking for information about the error code at the end of the picture and I didn`t get anywhere.

Re-install the TWAIN drivers? (They are not included in Windows.)

You might get a better answer if you gave the make and model of the scanner.
