    Installing Drivers Manually? (Through Registry, Win/Sys32/Drivers)


    Hi! Before you go and say "Why on earth would you want to do this?", let me explain. I'm attempting to boot a version of Windows that has very limited CMD access and no easy way to access Device Manager, but I can externally manipulate the Registry. I've used https://stackoverflow.com/questions/15006650/can-i-install-a-driver-only-through-modifying-registry as a resource to get started and the driver infs (and .sys files) for my drivers but am wondering what additional steps I can do to make it work. Specifically, this is a Windows Core OS build (W10X).

    What I've Tried:

    1. UpdateApp.exe (w/ UpdateApp.dll, etc.) - Doesn't work due to keyform issues.
    2. Manual Registry Manipulation.

    I cant get drivers to install

    Read my guide, goes step buy step for nvidia driver install. Though I use a different driver cause I got 8 series, same method of installation

    My name is and I'm here to help you.

    Windows 10 should automatically install all the necessary drivers, but if that does not happen, you have two solutions.

    1. Install the necessary drivers from the Internet/official websites of computer companies such as ASUS, Dell, Lenovo, etc.
    2. Install the required drivers from Device Manager.

    How to install drivers from Device Manager?

    Step 1: Open Dev. Manager. Click start (WIN button) and type Device Manager.

    Step 2: Choose a section of the component parts. Ex: Keyboards, Sound Video and Game Controllers etc.

    Step 3: Up, you have the option "Action". Click on it. Hit "Add Legacy Hardware". Click next. First, I suggest you choose the first option ("Search for and install the hardware automatically"). If it doesn't work, than choose the second
    option ("Install the hardware that I manually select from a list"). Click next. There, you have a list of all existing drivers.

    Windows 7 wont install drivers

    If you having an issue installing a driver that worked before you formatted or wont install on a fresh build, sometimes this means hardware damage
