Windows 10: installing exactly one dvorak keyboard

I can't seem to install one dvorak keyboard layout. Every time I try


settings > Time and Language > Language > click on English > Options > Add a keyboard > select Dvorak


it installs three dvorak keyboard layouts at once. How do I get it so I have one dvorak keyboard and one qwerty keyboard in the language bar and no others?

Hi Franz,

Please perform the following steps to add the DVORAK keyboard layout:

Click the Windows button + I. You’ll open Windows Settings

Then press Time & Language

Click on Region & Language on the left pane

On the right pane, find the section Preferred languages, press the language you want to add the keyboard layout, then hit Options

When you are in the Keyboards section, check if the DVORAK layout is there; if not, press Add a keyboard

Find the DVORAK keyboard layout and click it

Then close the window

Check if the keyboard layout is now added

Dvorak keyboard on a Nokia Lumia 820...?

I recently bought a Nokia Lumia 820 and upon checking the keyboard options I find there is an excellent range, but no Dvorak keyboard option. This seems strange as the list of options extends to Uzbek - Latin.



Clearly Nokia wants to be friendly to all comers. Why the Dvorak oversight?



Is there any way of downloading a Dvorak keyboard into a Nokia Lumia 820?

Change keyboard layout to Dvorak

Hi Ajay,

Seems like you want to get out of everybody's comfort zone by moving out of the QWERTY keyboard layout. I can help you with that request, kindly follow these steps to enable the US Dvorak layout for Windows 10:

1. On your keyboard, press Windows + I.
2. Select Time & language.
3. On the left pane, click Region & language.
4. Under Languages, highlight English (United States), then click
   Options.
5. Under Keyboards, click Add a keyboard.
6. Choose United States-Dvorak.
7. Close the settings.

You can now choose the US Dvorak layout by clicking on the language selector in the taskbar. See screenshot below:





On the pop-up, choose United States-Dvorak.

Now you can enjoy your new keyboard layout. If you have further queries, feel free to reply to this post.
