Windows 10: Installing more ram

I am trying to upgrade my ram. I had 6 mg total a 4 and a 2 ,I purchased a new 4mg but when I installed it I get a screen that says preparing automatic repair the a screen that says PC ran into problem and needs to restart. We will restart. This cycle just continues time after time. I have tried ram in both slots and with original 2mg stick nothing changes. I thought defective ram but sent it back and they replaced it and the same thing with the second new one. When I put the original 2/4 back in it works fine. I have an Acer Aspire 7741z 17in laptop. The computer came with a 1/2 combination and when I upgraded to a 4/2 it worked fine. The 4mg stick I found was a used one at that time and made computer run much faster so I figured 2mg more would help more. Thank you anyone that may help me.

That's what the auto setting will do since you're over the 1333 mark it jumps to the next step which isn't listed or officially supported I assume by that ram.

At this point though I would suggest dropping the multi one step or .5 so that we can get something stable and possibly take the heat issue out of the picture for now.

 

To RAM or not to RAM...

Hey genesis what hardware have you bought, you might be able to save on the ram and step up the rest of the hardware a little...

Or you could go out on the town as suggested... *Big Grin

 

windows xp installation and dual core am

could someone please list the steps they follow to install windows with a dual core processor and windows xp service pack to. I'm reletively new to amd dual core and i feel i'm missing a step. All help will be appreciated. thanx
