Installing new Laptop SSD - Help with keeping files

I've done a lot of googling and I'm not certain on a few things.

I want to install my new SSD in my laptop and then do a clean install of windows and then be able to get my files.

Do I: A) create a back up on USB and then somehow run that on the clean install of windows B)Clean install and keep everything then do a clone C)Clean install on new SSD and use my external enclosure to transfer my files across D) some other form of magic....

Please help me community, your my only hope.

Installing to new SSD but keeping files

Ok, let me explain my computer's current status. I have a 120gb SSD (still 45gb left, I keep it clean as possible, but I'd like to use more SSD for applications (games)) this functions as my C:\ from which i boot windows 10.

According to benchmark sites, the model I use for booting performs poorly compared to my choice for future purchase, and since the storage space is limited I plan on upgrading to a 500gb SSD. I also have 2 separate HDDs one 500gb and another 750gb, one used
from applications/games and the other for misc programs/multi media storage. I have over 120gb of storage on each of the 2 HDDs (D:\, E:\) (so I can back anything up if it is required in any step)

I have also upgraded from Windows 8.1 (Home) to 10 (Home/Basic ed.) maybe half a year ago or so (whenever it was first made available). My copy is legitimate, I care not for almost any files on my C:\ as I can back them up on E:\. Is there any way for me
to do a fresh install of Windows (as I have seen in so many support files, it is recommended to do fresh install for stability but my upgrade was not a fresh install) on my new planned C:\ (the new unformated 500gb SSD) without needing a disc or thumb drive
(this is not as important as I can purchase one easily) and is there a way (this is most important) for me to do so without harming the D:\ and E:\ drive files? (even if they include, like E:\Program Files\) (I will wipe the C:\ afterwards so if the 120gb
ssd c:\ has to wipe during this process, np)

If so, please direct me to the proper links to conduct this safely, if not please leave advice for how you suggest to best proceed. Thank you for your help if you decide to help.

SSD storage keeps filling up on its own

    Hi Ash,

There's a possibility that the files are just hidden. As an initial troubleshooting, we suggest following the steps below on how to display hidden files that's eating space of your SSD:

    • On the Search bar, type folder, and then select
Show hidden files and folders from the search results.
    • Under Advanced settings, select Show hidden files, folders, and drives,
      and then select OK.

Keep us in the loop with the result.
