    Installing new Laptop (Win 10), TRYING to share with older Win 7 PCs

    Last week, I had some hair until I tried to setup and share my new Lenovo (Win 10) with my old DESKTOP and LAPTOP (Win 7).
    All in my home, same router, I am only user, same Network except, the laptops are wireless, same network name, and the DESKTOP is hard wired all same router with only ONE wireless network.

    I tried to share, copy some data...and setup the new laptop (Lenovo) w/Win10, BUT, the Win 10 will not let me see my Win 7 PCs yet they can see each other.
    IT WANTS me to logon to "Credentials" and refuse everything I put in. Microsoft COULD give some HINTS of what it wants......

    So, I changed my name of desktop to DESKTOP, laptop to LAPTOP, my new LENOVO to "LENOVO".
    MADE MY PASSWORDS on LAPTOP, DESKTOP, and LENOVO THE SAME.
    ANYONE know how to get past this Win 10 CREDENTIAL crap??

    No, States secrets on my PCs, if Putin hacks into me? he will find he wasted his time.

    Am willing to pay a fee for the info, but still cant find how. . Think, how to use Credentials is a Microsoft Corp secret.

    Anyone have the secret handshake? Bribe a Microsoft employee?

    :)

    Networking computer with win 10 and win 7

    I have three computers on a networked on the same switch. Two are running on Win 7 and one on Win 10. One of them is new and replaces an older Win 7 computer. All the PC's have the network discovery and sharing enabled. The Win 7 PC's are networked, but
    not the one with Win 10. Before I bought the new PC, all the computers were networked. I used Easy transfer to set up the new PC.

    DOES ANYONE know how to SHARE your home PCs, WITH YOURSELF and AVOID this useless CREDENTIAL LOGIN SCREEN?

    45
    I have 2 PCs, laptop & desktop, both Win 7. But just got a new laptop with Win 10.

    I have spent HOURS on getting my new laptop setup because I can not access my older win 7 PCs with STD sharing in Win 7. I DO NOT want to copy all my PCs data to HD, install the HD on my new laptop, to copy, move data just because the CREDENTIALS THING
    IS SUCH A MYSTERY, COMPLICATED, WITH NO INSTRUCTIONS I CAN FIND THAT EXPLAINS IT ALL.

    The Win '10 rejects and wants CREDENTIALS. NO HELP AVAIL, NO EXPLAIN WHAT IT WANTS.

    It is said "if user names AND PASSWORDS are same it will not show this &^*@#@$% CREDENTIAL SCREEN.
    BUT, Win 7 uses regular Letters/symbols/NAMES in those field but, Win 10 INSIST I USE A PIN, MICROSOFT ACCT, pins imply numbers,etc and I do not want my PW to be just NUMBERS.

    SURELY, there is a way to do simple sharing, on same private homegroup network, to do SIMPLE SHARING and access to your home PSs.

    SURELY there is a video, POST, etc, to explain this CREDENTIALS CRAP? How to satisfy Windows with WHAT IT is asking for and wants?

    My only thing I can do now is get OFF Win 10, go back to 7 as I KNOW HOW IT works, but I tried 10 already but had to back to 7 for many reasons that 10 caused multiple problems.

    Win 10 IS FASTER, BUT, not worth the grief if I want to work on my PCs instead of trying all the time figuring what 10 WANTS.

    The transition from XP to VISTA, to 7 was easy, to 10 NIGHTMARE.

    The username and password you login with is it a Microsoft account or local one? One of the problems is all other old windows you login locally so the username is not the same. I assume you have setup shares on the other pcs for a start. So to connect you need to enter the username and password for a user on the other pc you can do this via the cmd line.

    net use e: \\LAPTOP\sharename password /user:msmith2 /savecred /p:yes

    If you connect another way enter username and password for the admin user on the pc you connecting to

    NET USE? Not sure. Let me re-explain.
    Have desktop and laptop, HP, Win 7.
    Sharing has worked for years without the CREDENTIAL WINDOW popping up.
    Added new Lenovo laptop.
    Desktop and Laptop, Win 7 shared, working, SAME PW used on both, USER both PATRICK, ONLY THE NAME IS DIFFERENT,
    LAPTOP
    DESKTOP
    Added new LENOVO, CALLED "LENOVO" used same PW for it, same user: PATRICK.
    Only difference is the "computer name so network can keep separate.
    Yet, with all three sharing, can not get to he win 7 PCs and get: bad credential on new LENOVO.
    LENOVO= WIN 10
    LAPTOP= WIN 7
    DESKTOP=WIN 7

    Again, do you see in the Command Window all machines when you use the command Net Use? Stop making changes on the machines, until you can get through troubleshooting. That means that all should use the workgroup name "Workgroup". All of this can be as simple as human error, especially if you run some kind of third party security software.
