  1. Installing same copy of Windows 10 (1 registered, 1 unregistered) on separate hard drives...

As per question, I have 2 hard drives on the same PC. I wish to use the Media Creation tool to create a copy of Windows 10 on my USB, then install it to the new hard drive I just bought.

Reason being: I wish to have a work account and play account, but Windows 10 can be quite finicky when it comes to dealing with permissions and shortcuts appearing on both user profiles and what-not. I would rather just dual-boot off 2 separate drives every single time.

I do understand that this might contravene some internal policy about using 1 product key for 2 accounts, which is why I'm thinking of just running the second one unregistered. I'm perfectly fine with the limitations of an unregistered user account (inability to change the background and toolbar etc.)

    So my question is:

    1) Would it work? What about Windows updates? (I'm guessing I would need to do it twice every single time)

    2) Am I going against any policies?

    3) Any limitations that might occur or any errors that might happen down the line?

Replacing old hard drive, need way to copy Windows installation across

    Hey Guys,
What would be the best way of copying/imaging the entire contents of an old system drive over to a replacement hard disk for the same machine? I need to copy the Windows installations and all other data to the new drive, and then format the old drive to use as a backup.

Any suggestions? *Smile Installing same copy of Windows 10 (1 registered, 1 unregistered) on separate hard drives... :)

  3. Unregistered Windows 10

Had to have a new hard drive installed and the person that installed it put an unregistered version of Windows 10 on it. I would like to purchase a registered version, but am unsure if this will affect the data and info I already have on my computer?

Installing windows off of a USB stick

    Step By Step from vista:
    From admin cmd prompt

    1. diskpart
    1a. list disk
    2. select disk 1 (replace 1 with your usb drive)
    3. clean
    4. create partition primary
    5. select partition 1 (replace 1 with your usb drive)
    6. active
    7. format fs=fat32
    8. assign
    9. exit

Copy Windows Vista's DVD ROM content to the Flash Drive

xcopy d:\*.* /s/e/f e:\ (d being your vista cd and e being your usb stick)

And that's it, boot off your usb disk
