installing win 10 with img from media tool

i decided to reinstall everything starting with windows 7 then upgrading or using the free upgrade that i initialy used to get windows 10. but it seems that offer is no longer on the start menu bar \ task bar.

i have the img of windows 10 pro burned from media creation tool to a dvd.

can i use the dvd to simply just upgrade windows 7 to windows 10?

or do i need a serial key for windows 10?

i had some trouble with curse client and some audio stuttering in windows 10 when i used the free upgrade, but it didnt show until after i installed call of duty black ops III where it said i needed audio below 44000khz (sound blaster Z) to be able to open the game....... :\ and a bunch of bsod out of nowhere. i havent had a bsod on windows 7 for over a year so idk where that came from.

so back to the question. is there a upgrade function from the dvd (windows 10 pro; as in the free upgrade) or do i need a serial specifically for win 10?

    :)

Windows 10 Recovery from Windows 7 system image

    Hi,

You should not have a problem re-upgrading to Windows 10...

Be advised that you will need to boot with Win7 Installation Media or Recovery CD to reload the Win 7 Image... Providing that you made the image using the tool in Win 7 of course...

Just reload the Win 7 image and then run Win 10 installation media from within Win 7...

  3. win 10 upgrade from win 8 using iso img

    Hi,

Thank you for your interest in Windows 10.

I would like to inform you that if you're using a qualifying version of Windows, then it should not ask for the Product key. However, still if it says, then I would suggest you to skip and check if it helps. See the link for reference:

How to troubleshoot Product Activation in Windows 10

If the Windows doesn't get activated after installation, then try contacting Activation team. Refer to the section "Windows 10" in the following link:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/950929

Hope it helps. If the issue still persists, then let us know and we'll be glad to assist.

installing win 10 with img from media tool

Hello and welcome to the forum *Smile

When you initially upgraded to Win10 did you confirm it had activated correctly? If so, then there is no need to reinstall Win7. Just use boot straight into the Win10 DVD and perform a clean installation of Windows 10. When it asks you for a product key, just skip (don't enter a key)

    Good luck

Well I've never re-upgraded before as I've never had a reason to. Things **often** work better with a clean install though. If you haven't already reinstalled all your programs on to your Win7 then I suggest you should do a clean install.

Why not try the re-upgrade if that is what you want. Cannot see any reason why it would not work. The tutorial is below:

I agree with WhyMe. The pc will activate on 7 or 10 is what has been said, I have not tested that yet but think I will so I can say mine did.*Smile
