Windows 10: Installing Windows 10 feature 1803 failed

I have tried to install feature 1803 six times now with no success. One time standalone with USB. Install gets to second restart and wheel stops spinning and hangs. I have to power off and restart then install recovery fails. It then backs out to prior version successfully. I have also tried the update using a USB flash drive same results. I am stuck in a forced upgrade loop and feel no way out in getting this fixed. How can I determine why it is hanging without trying 100 things that do not work? I have searched the internet for fixes and nothing works. I have been a windows user all my life and thinking apple does not sound as bad now. I would have thought Microsoft would have had this fixed by now. I see many other people having the many issues and many with this issue.


before installing:

1. checked all my my drivers are up to date

2. ran windows troubleshooter

3. ran windows clean up

4. ran defrag

5. turned off virus product

6. laptop is a ASUS UL50AG 500GB with lots of free space

7. BIOS is up to date

8. ran windoews repair

Windows Updates failed to instal

I just did step one and they have just all installed.... thank you so much.... it was quite frustrating having that update window pop up every 5 minutes and failing to instal every time

windows xp installation and dual core am

could someone please list the steps they follow to install windows with a dual core processor and windows xp service pack to. I'm reletively new to amd dual core and i feel i'm missing a step. All help will be appreciated. thanx
