Windows 10: Installing Windows 10 Home retail on existing Windows 11 Pro OEM, Will it work?

Hello, I recently build a new PC for first time all by myself even though I have a very limited knowledge about it, I feel like I did great, anyway, my issues is Windows 11 Pro, My old pc was a prebuilt one and had win10 home, but on my new pc I regretfully considered buying an cheap OEM key for windows 11 pro, and now im not happy with it at all, the limited customization and unstable file explorer on windows 11 and long and painful boot time, now I`m at my wit`s end. I want to buy a Retail windows 10 home key and install win10 on my pc, Is it possible? Will installing windows 10 on my pc re

windows 11 pro oem to retail?

i purchased a prebuilt pc that came with a windows 10 pro oem license eligible for the windows 11 upgrade. i have since upgraded to the windows 11 pro oem version. my question is if i purchase a windows 11 pro retail license, can i change the installed version by changing the license info on the pc using the new retail license?

"Flavors" of Windows licenses

Windows can be a little "odd" about license keys. There are at least 4 categories:

• Retail
• OEM
• Volume (electronic download)
• Corporate (no key needed)

For guaranteed success, the license key and media should be in the same category. If you have retail media, you may not be able to install it using an OEM or Volume license key, even though the key is valid for that version of Windows. *Wtf :wtf: Apparently, this is part of Microsoft's anti-piracy scheme (i.e., all customers are guilty until proven innocent).

Microsoft: Windows 10 Home costs $119, Pro costs $199



Which is good news actually, because Windows 8.1 is loads cheaper than previous versions (retail licensing at Windows 7 OEM prices). And it sort of puts a huge hole in the Windows subscription theory.
