  1. Installing Windows 10 on AHCI enabled SSD directly

Hi Microsoft Community. I'm having a hard time as to why I cannot install my Windows 10 directly when i have enabled AHCI on my BIOS. Is there anyway we can get through or around that? I've seen some posts regarding that issue but the fact that it goes through coding on CMDwhich is my weakness is not really working for me. I hope someone could help me with my concern.

Currently, these are the specs of the system that I have built from before:

In addition to this , I am using an old gpu, GTX650 if that matters.

    :)

  2. How to Enable AHCI for SSD in Windows 10.

    Original title: AHCI for SSD

I've installed a Samsung 850 Pro 512 gig SSD. The Samsung Magician is telling me " AHCI is disabled for one or more connected SSDs. System must boot in AHCI mode for best performance". How do I enable AHCI in Windows 10 Pro? Thanks in advance.

Cannot install Windows 10 on SSD using AHCI

    Hi Greg,

I have tried to use the Diskpart tool, but it can't see the SSD.

I'm sure its not the SSD's fault and is something to do with Windows 10 installation with SSD's for the following reasons:

    1. Windows 10 installs with AHCI enable on a 1TB conventional rotating disc hard drive (which is too slow for my needs).

    2. When I purchased the PC, it didn't come pre-installed with Windows, it was supplied with FreeDOS - I successfully installed FreeDOS on the SSD with AHCI enabled yesterday (no drive failure and booted several times for test).

    3. Windows 7 installs and boots properly from the SSD with AHCI enabled.

Everything seems to point to the Windows 10 AHCI driver and the way it communicates with the SSD.

I have not tried Crucial support yet, but I used their hardware scanner to identify an SSD which is compatible with my system before purchasing.

Thanks for your advice and I really hope that someone has experienced this before and knows a solution.

Installing Windows 10 on AHCI enabled SSD directly

AHCI not enabled after Windows 10 UPGRADE from Windows 8.1 for SSD.

Was: HP laptop, Windows 8.1, SSD, AHCI enabled, INSYDE F.26 BIOS, System Config does not have any selection for HDD/SSD. Automatically detected SSD and AHCI in Windows 8.1 when SSD was installed.

Used MS WINDOWS 10 UPGRADE (after backing up entire SSD).

Not AHCI is not enabled and I can't seem to get it so. Again HP BIOS does not have a system configuration selection option for IDE/SATA/AHCI/RAID.

Was working fine in Windows 8.1 for months until Windows 10 upgrade was applied.

Couldn't really find anything relevant in searches online.

    Any ideas how to FIX?
