Windows 10: Installing windows on secundary M.2 SSD with dual boot and being able to reverse it later.

Hey there!


So, I have a notebook from work running linux and I've been able to run windows from an external hard drive with an old hdd I had, but now I want to install a SSD M.2 drive in the computer so I can install windows on it and run things properly.

I know how to create a bootable usb uo install windows on the ssd and create a dual boot aystem, my doubt is if this process is revertable.


On my current setting Im using windows by choosing the usb option at the boot order when turning the computer on... So im not really changing anything and if I dont plug the usb external the computer will boot directly from its hard drive, I guess this will be diferent once I install the m2 drive and then windows on it, It will not be based on boot order anymore and i'll have a dual boot system...

What I want to known is how can I revert it if needed be?


If someday I had to change computers or send this one back, how can I revert the dualboot scheme as it had never happened? Is it possible?

I guess just removing the ssd m2 drive wont work to restore the system original boot system.. right?

core i5 6th gen

8 gb ddr4 ram

1 TB hdd 5400rpm.

currently i am using dual boot windows 7 ultimate and windows 10 both on same hdd on different partitions.

i am going to install a

860 EVO 250GB SATA III M.2 SSD
on this laptop and want to use this ssd as windows partition.

i want to install dual os both windows 7 and windows 10 on this ssd.

want to know is it possible? experts gives opinion and also microsoft.

i will install windows 7 first then windows 10, so that newest boot maanager will add older version boot entry for win 7 .

now any bios tweaking like uefi settings in bios? i heard installation is triky in m.2 ssd.
