Instances of svchost.exe trying access %userprofile%\Videos Controlled Folder Access

Yesterday when I started up my pc I got a lot of notifications from Windows Security I didn't not receive any today. svchost.exe was trying to access %userprofile%\Videos I don't know what to do about these I went through a lot of forms trying to find an answer but I have been unable to find a answer and since this might be a Virus/Malware I have been very cautious about this situation. A possible reason for this might because I sometimes have to uninstall my network adapters restart my pc so that they can be re-downloaded installed I do this because it disables WIFI connec

    Controlled Folder Access

    Hi.

I've been using Controlled Folder Access recently but I'm having a problem getting one application to change/create files. I use doPDF8 to create PDF files, but when CFA is active, it won't save my work. The notice explaining that something has tried accessing the folder only comes up once. (I assume that if you don't do anything about it, the program trying to access the file is put on the 'black list'.) Turning CFA off and then on again causes the notice to appear once more. However, the notice seems to suggest that it is C:\Windows\splwow64.exe that is trying to access/create the file, but when I put this into the 'allow app control' list, it still doesn't work. The only way I can find to get the PDF file created is to turn off CFA, create the file and then turn it back on again.

    Any ideas?

    Matt

  3. WINDOWS DEFENDER CONTROLLED FOLDER ACCESS: NVCONTAINER.exe

I have an ASUS ROG STRIX gaming laptop. All WINDOWS updates have been applied. The laptop runs NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX.

Beyond the default settings for Controlled Folder Access I've added other folders that hold my own data files from EXCEL, WORD, OUTLOOK, QUICKEN, etc.

The consistent item blocked is this NVIDIA program: C:\Program Files (x86)\NVIDIA Corporation\NvContainer\nvcontainer.exe has been blocked from modifying %userprofile%\Videos\Tdbswd56spcap by Controlled Folder Access.

    • it appears that nvcontainer.exe is trying to update a video driver.
    • How can I determine whether nvcontainer.exe is true NVIDIA executable?
    • What is the directory: Tdbswd56spcap? I can't seem to find it.
