Windows 10: Instead of taking action against virus, my virus protection software just says quick scan again

So, for a while, my virus protection software I think it's windows defender? I dunno, my computer is a hand me down has kept saying there is a virus and then I've done a quick scan and taken care of it. Annoying, but not a big deal. But today, when I figured out which file had the virus and tried to remove, a new one appared. Did the same thing, but now when it says take action, it doesn't, it just says to quick scan again. What should I do, if anything? PS, I'm not 100% sure what version of windows I have, I just know I update it when there is an update.Edit: My virus protection software I

2 windows 10 alert messages of "virus protection is currently not on," and "windows defener action needed to do a virus scan,"

while on a website I get the warning my virus protection is not on, I got to defender and it is on. and on occasion I get an action recommended, with a exclamation mark triangle on the windows defender icon on the task bar. so I open that and there's the
warning triangle on the "virus and threat protection" and it has a last scheduled scan being a couple weeks old but the windows defender security system window says "your device is being protected" and a daily update and scan are listed:

last threat scan 1-14-2018

last threat definition update 1/28/2018

last health scan 1/28/2018

virus & threat protection has Quick scan due.....(why?) isn't that all automatic?

Virus Scan

My N73 Music Edition phone becoms very slow, to open addres book or SMS or to delete any SMS it takes long time. I think it have some virus.

1. How to scan & delete this virus???

2. Is there any free virus scan available???

3. While scanning virus & to protect phone book & SMS or songs, what are the steps to follows ???

Pl. help.

 

Virus and Threat Protection Issue

When looking to run a virus scan on my computer, I'm met with an error that says "Virus and Threat Protection is Managed by your Organization." THis is a personal laptop though. Any suggestions?
