  1. Integrated GPU being used instead of dedicated GPU regardless of settings

Hello, and thank you for helping. So i am having this problem for about a month, dont know if it was caused by an update of Windows or something like this, but i tried about everything i could find on the internet: - Nvidia control panel changing do better the performance of the notebook- Putting apps in high performance - Enabling NVidia geforce in hidden apps to see if it was saying it was using my GeForce 1650 to games and it says it is and using MSI afterburner to see how the GPU 1 and 2 are beeing used during games- Disabling the Integrated GPU to see if the GeForce 1650 would run the g

  2. Integrated GPU being used instead of dedicated GPU regardless of settings

My applications won't properly use my dedicated graphics card. This has been an ongoing issue for a while, but I don't recall for how long.

There's a similar thread of someone that has had the same issue but it didn't resolve anything for me.

My computer specs are here in a text file.

The example game I'll be mostly using is Grounded, since that's where I first noticed this. I've tried most solutions from other people on the internet, but none have worked so far. For some reason, only Discord seems to use my dedicated graphics card, which makes me think that the problem is in the software, not the hardware. I've got a screenshot of Discord using GPU 1 (my NVDIA card), whilst Grounded uses GPU 0 (my integrated graphics card). All other applications have been using GPU 0.

Strangely enough, while some games are opening, they say "GPU 1 - Copy" before switching to GPU 0 when booted. I'm not sure if this bears any relevance.

    Things I've tried:

    • Changing my Windows preferred GPU. This screenshot shows the preference for Grounded, while this one shows that the high performance processor is my NVIDIA card.
    • Disabling my integrated GPU driver through device manager. Instead of using my dedicated GPU, programs will now run off the CPU instead. Attached is a screenshot of my Intel card being disabled. I dont have a screenshot of the apps in task manager using the CPU, but none of them were using my NVIDIA card after I disabled the Intel one.
    • Changing the settings in the NVIDIA control panel. Although the control panel says the settings are now controlled by Windows, I made sure for them to prioritise the GPU usage anyway. Screenshot attached.
    • Do a fresh install of both my graphics drivers. I did a clean install of the NVDIA drivers through GeForce Experience, and a clean install of the Intel drivers using Intel Driver and Support Assistant. Both are up to date and fresh installs.
    • Enable hardware acceleration. This didn't make a difference.
    • Alter my power plan and battery settings to always maximise performance.
    • Enable performance mode on my computer through Control Center 3.0 (a driver package that I installed from my manufacturer, Metabox)
If anyone could please help me try to fix this issue that would be greatly appreciated. This has been bugging me for a while as it massively impacts game performance when games won't use my dedicated graphics card.

  3. How do I make the primary display adaptor as the dedicated GPU instead of the intel integrated on my laptop?

Thanks for reaching out! I'm an Independent Advisor and a Microsoft user like you.

To make the dedicated GPU the primary display adapter on your HP Pavilion 15-e033tx laptop, you can follow these steps. Note that the process involves both software settings within Windows and potentially BIOS settings, though the latter may not always be available on all laptops.

    Method 1: Using Device Manager

    1. Open Device Manager:
      • Press Windows + R, type devmgmt.msc, and press Enter.
    2. Disable Integrated Graphics:
      • Expand the Display adapters section.
      • Right-click on the Intel integrated graphics and select Disable device.
      • Confirm any warnings that appear.
    Method 2: BIOS Settings

    1. Access BIOS:
      • Restart your laptop and press the appropriate key (usually F2, F10, Delete, or Esc) to enter the BIOS setup. The exact key may vary, so refer to your laptop's manual if needed.
    2. Change Primary GPU:
      • Navigate to the Advanced or Integrated Peripherals section.
      • Look for settings related to Graphics Configuration or Primary Display.
      • Set the primary display to PEG/PCI or a similar option that prioritizes the dedicated GPU over the integrated one.
      • Save and exit the BIOS.
    Method 3: Windows Graphics Settings

    1. Open Graphics Settings:
      • Go to Settings > System > Display.
      • Scroll down and click on Graphics settings.
    2. Set Preferred GPU:
      • Under Graphics performance preference, select the application you want to configure.
      • Click Options and choose High performance to use the dedicated GPU.
    Troubleshooting

    • Check for Driver Issues:
      • Ensure that both Intel and AMD drivers are up to date. Sometimes, outdated drivers can cause conflicts.
    • BIOS Limitations:
      • If your BIOS does not provide an option to change the primary GPU, you may be limited to using software settings within Windows.
    • Windows Basic Display Adapter Issue:
      • If disabling the integrated GPU in Device Manager causes Windows to default to the basic display adapter, re-enable the integrated GPU and try setting the preferred GPU for specific applications instead.
By following these steps, you should be able to set your AMD GPU as the primary display adapter, improving overall performance and allowing for better resolution settings.

If the above steps aren't working, it's probable that your laptop doesn't have a mux switch.

Please do let me know if the method I suggested works for you or if you need further assistance.

    Integrated and Dedicated GPU

hi, my dedicated gpu is broken it cant play any games. like valorant it changes frames after I alt+tab. I have a 2nd monitor and i use it as my main monitor. so can i use the integrated gpu to play games(it can run low setting am good with that) but i dont want to disable the dedicated gpu so i can still use my 2nd monitor. I tried making my games to "power saving" in graphics settings but it is still running with the 1650ti.
